ELEKTA AND IMPAC MEDICAL SYSTEMS AGREE TO JOINTLY DEVELOP DICOM-RTLINEAR ACCELERATOR INTERFACEInterface will be the first complete linear accelerator DICOM-RTinterface and will facilitate connectivity between Elekta's digitallinear accelerators and IMPAC's Oncology Management SystemElekta, a world-leading supplier of advanced and innovative radiationoncology solutions and services, and IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc.(NASDAQ:IMPC), a leading provider of information management solutionsfor cancer care, announce today their agreement to use a full DICOM-RTcompliant specification for the development of an interface to connectthe Elekta product lines of digital linear accelerators (ElektaSynergy(TM) and Precise Treatment System(TM)) with IMPAC's oncologyinformation management products.This interface will provide a vendor-independent means of facilitatinguniversal connectivity of next-generation radiation treatment devices,such as linear accelerators and proton therapy delivery systems as wellas treatment simulation devices to information management systems.
