ELEKTA RECEIVES ORDER FOR RADIOTHERAPY EQUIPMENT FOR TREATMENT OF CANCER IN THE NETHERLANDS VALUED AT SEK 160 MElekta has signed an agreement to deliver radiotherapy equipment for treatment of cancer to a leading hospital in the Netherlands. The total order value is approximately SEK 160 M. The deliveries include 8 linear accelerators, Precise Treatment System? and 2 simulators, PreciseSIM?. The deliveries are planned to start during next fiscal year, 2003/04.The systems are equipped with PreciseBEAM? IMRT, intensity modulated radiotherapy, which delivers high precision radiation treatment. As is the case of radiosurgery with Leksell Gamma Knife?, Elekta is pioneering development of state-of-the-art clinical and technical solutions.By increasing the precision of delivery, IMRT minimizes the radiation delivered to healthy tissue thus reducing side effects.
