At ASTRO Annual Meeting, Elekta to highlight cancer management solutions that advance and simplify patient care
At the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting, October 18-21 in San Antonio, Elekta (booth #459) will demonstrate that progress in health care is often achieved by increasing the sophistication of treatment solutions while simultaneously making them easier for clinicians to use. By both advancing and simplifying the tools and devices in cancer management, Elekta strives to help physicians improve patient care and solve clinical problems while minimizing risk and maximizing efficiency.
Visitors to the Elekta exhibit will see examples of this progress in:
- Leksell Gamma Knife® Icon™, Elekta’s latest generation cranial radiosurgery platform. Featuring advanced imaging and motion management technologies, Icon is designed to help clinicians go beyond traditional frame-based Gamma Knife radiosurgery to high precision frameless radiosurgery for certain brain indications, while expanding workflow flexibility.
Leksell Gamma Knife Icon will be featured at the Industry Expert Theater at ASTRO on Monday, October 19, 12:20-1:30 p.m. in Hall B, Theater 2.
- Elekta brachytherapy solutions, including Flexitron® afterloading platform. Increasingly, clinicians are turning to brachytherapy as a treatment option. Typically, in the treatment of patients with cervical or prostate cancer, for example, clinical evidence shows that adding brachytherapy to the treatment plan, significantly improves outcomes: 12 percent increase in survival at four years for patients with cervical cancer1 and a longer relapse-free period for patients with prostate cancer2.
- Versa HD™ linear accelerator and Monaco® treatment planning. Versa HD and Monaco provide a powerful combination of unrivaled dose delivery and intelligent dose planning. With the ultra-low transmission of Agility™ and Monte Carlo accuracy, dose delivery to the target can be precisely controlled while ensuring surrounding anatomy is protected.
- Information-guided cancer care™. Elekta is transforming cancer care by enabling clinicians to connect with the information they need to treat patients more effectively. It puts the physician in control, giving them instant, convenient access to an information network that surrounds each patient and connects every member of the patient care team. Elekta supports Information-guided cancer care through Care Management (tools for clinical and practice management), Treatment Management (tools for treatment planning, delivery and assessment) and Knowledge Management (clinical intelligence and data management applications).
